KingpinQ3 is a clone of Xatrix's Kingpin - Life of Crime.

Our goal is to merge Kingpin's unique atmosphere and gameplay with the capabilites of a singinificantly modified Id-Tech3 engine. The Id-Tech3 engine was released under the GPL a few years ago and KingpinQ3 is based on this engine.

There was never any thought to make KinpinQ3 a Quake3 mod and there never will be. We started the development of KingpinQ3 after the GPL-release. KingpinQ3 is a noncommercial project, it will be a FREE standalone game available for PC, Mac and Linux. We have no public releases yet (only internal alphas).

KingpinQ3 will provide the following gamemodes:

  1. Deathmatch
  2. Team-Deathmatch
  3. Bagman
  4. Capture the Flag

All gamemodes listed above can be played with four different weapon-modes:

  1. standard weapon-mode
  2. realmode
  3. hitmen
  4. hitmen-realmode

KingpinQ3 is designed as a Online-Multiplayergame only, but it will support bots so you can play offline against them on regular maps.

Another notable feature of KingpinQ3 is the controversial "Bunnyhop".

The project was founded in Oct. 2006 by the autor of this arcticle.

KingpinQ3 Legality

KingpinQ3 is, as already mentioned above, a clone of Kingpin and this fact may pose the question:

               Is KingpinQ3 a legal project ?

KingpinQ3 will not use any files of Kingpin at the point of release. Currently there are some original Kingpin files still in the game but they are being replaced by rebuilt versions as development continues.

Surely, cloning a game or any other product may be a controversial matter because the developers safe alot of work by cutting down the concept-phase. But I know a few products which have been cloned and they are legal products. A well-known example is Linux, Linux is a Unix clone and i've never heard anybody say "Linux is illegal".

The KingpinQ3-Crew consists of Kingpin-addicts and we do this project in our spare-time. We have no financial interests and we possibly make some mistakes during the development process. If we do so, please contact us, we will be willing to correct them.

Surely we have, especially the posts of the last few month show a part of our progress. I don't post about everything we've done because posting also takes it's time.
The reason why earlier post's doesn't show much progress is because i was alone with the project for a few month. I have done lot's of coding and data-organisation in this time but i didn't post much about it because i expect it to be boring for visitors.

I just wanted to say, what you are doing is some of the most exciting gaming news I've heard in a long time. It's going to be a literal thrill to enjoy Kingpin multiplayer in the environment of the quake 3 game engine. This is a wonderful idea, I sincerely applaud you for your efforts, and i will be amongst the first to download your game once it is released. Truly thank you. Long Live Kingpin!

After all these years and ego-shooters, its still so amazing to play. Hiring Thugs, talking cool to da street chicks, shooting them down, taking the money, buying useless stuff at pawn-o-matic, hiring more thugs, being excited how good their path finding routines are... Bagman..
And last but not least the guy in the Goon Dock level with the cement on his feet.
I love this game. ^^

Im looking forward to see your's!!
all da best wishes, yo, and now get DA FUCK OUT OF MY FOYER!
